Curious who’s Unfriended you on Facebook? Sure you are!

Whether you admit it or not, once you’ve actually realized that your friend count number has dropped, you can’t help but wonder, who just left your friends list? Well, there is actually a way to figure that out now with just a few simple steps.

Depending on what browser you’re using will determine the plug-in/extension you will need to download- We will try to make this as simple as possible for you!

Chrome Users |
The Unfriend Finder can be found on Userscripts.org. If you’re using Chrome, it will install automatically.

Be sure to click the INSTALL button located in the top right corner

FireFox Users |
Firefox users will have to first install the Greasemonkey add-on.

Once you’ve downloaded the appropriate plug-in/extension you will now see two new features in Facebook. There will be an “Unfriends” tab on the top-right of your screen and an “Unfriends” option in your “Favorites” list. You will received a red number notification, like that of when you received friends requests but not notifying you of who’s unfriended you. It will also give you a bit more detail, to the date and time they actually unfriended you. A couple other sweet features they’ve added, in this area are those people who have deactivated and activated their accounts, and those friend requests that may be pending or ignored that you’ve sent.

Do you think Facebook should show this information? Or, would you rather not know?

New Media Marketing and the Mobile Revolution

With record numbers of consumers now acquiring information through social media, or through other forms of web-based information exchange, new media marketing continues to evolve. If you haven’t yet joined those drinking the Kool-Aid of the B2B mobile platform, you may want to take a second look at your lead generation strategy. Sure, mobile marketing comes with its own unique challenges (screen sizes, user behavior and device limitations are just a few considerations) but considering what it can do for your market share, as well as the fact that your competitors are most likely already using it, you may want to check out a few recent mobile stats, and learn how we can help make web 2.0 marketing work for you!
According to digital business analytics leader comScore, this past August, more than 72.2 million people utilized mobile devices to access social networking sites or blogs. That’s 37 percent more than August, 2010. That’s a distinct upward trend which shows little signs of slowing. In fact, almost 40 million U.S. mobile users access social media sites almost every day, which proves this that social media is an essential part of any B2B lead generation strategy. If you haven’t yet integrated social media into your marketing strategy, better late than never – start now!

So, 40 million people are seeking businesses and organization info on the web. Think you have a solid web marketing plan in place? Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Does my content have inherent value for my consumer/potential client?
2. Is it consistently refreshed and updated?
3. Am I utilizing customer feedback to keep my content relevant?
4. Is my content mobile device-friendly?

Still not convinced that social networks are changing the marketing rules? Well, then consider the following:
Facebook’s mobile users increased 50% to nearly 60 million, Twitter’s mobile users are now nearing 14 million and LinkedIn users number more than 5.5 million. These mobile users are not just posting updates and profile pictures; they are interacting with brands in a myriad of ways – following posted links, clicking on advertisements and using coupons.

Mobile and social go together like peanut butter and jelly, but it’s up to you to creatively leverage this relationship. We can help; let Eminent SEO create a custom social media marketing proposal just for you!

Ads Vs. Content, New Tip From Your Friendly Phoenix Arizona SEO

Uh, oh – it looks like your search engine optimization strategy might need some adjusting. It’s time to rethink the ad placement on your web pages. Google has announced that it has begun penalizing sites with pages that are top-heavy with ads. With this change, called the “page layout algorithm,” Google will be hunting out those sites with pages where content is buried below heavy ads, and adjusting rankings accordingly.

As if web 2.0 marketing wasn’t confusing enough, it seems as if users have been increasingly complaining that they are often forced to scroll down past heavy ads in search of that actual content which they would prefer to see right away. It’s these complaints which Google is responding to, and those websites without much “above-the-fold” content will be affected by this change. The end result? They may not rank as highly going forward.

So, how are you to know if you’ve got a website which is too top-heavy with advertising? Well, Google won’t be releasing any new tools to help with this – rather, they’re encouraging people to make use of existing tools to understand how much of a given page’s content is seen by visitors at first glance.

This change has been put into effect immediately, so if you see a sudden drop in traffic, and you’re heavy on ads, chances are you’ve been impacted. Those sites which are tagged as too ad-heavy will see a ranking decrease attached to your entire site. Ouch.

Even if you immediately reduce above-the-fold ads, it may take several weeks until Google takes notes of the changes it has found. That could translate to several weeks of decreased traffic for your site, and that’s why your new media marketing strategy needs to be adjusted accordingly, and pronto.

According to Google:
If you decide to update your page layout, the page layout algorithm will automatically reflect the changes as we re-crawl and process enough pages from your site to assess the changes.

How long that takes will depend on several factors, including the number of pages on your site and how efficiently Googlebot can crawl the content.

On a typical website, it can take several weeks for Googlebot to crawl and process enough pages to reflect layout changes on the site.

The bottom line, is that excessive advertising impacts overall user experience, and should be avoided to keep ranking results as high as possible.

Does all this talk about algorithms have you confused? Not to worry, we keep up on all this news so that you don’t have to. We’re the seo arizona experts. If you’re overwhelmed, just get in touch.

Easy Search Engine Optimization Strategy – Long Tail Keywords

Here’s a web 2.0 marketing tip you may not be aware of: Regardless of your business niche, or the fierceness of the competition, there’s a simple, seven-letter word standing between you and a successful website

Traffic.

It’s an easy concept to grasp. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to master.

Difficult, why? Well, website traffic doesn’t matter unless it’s targeted traffic. 1 million hits a month won’t do you any good if those viewers aren’t picking up what you’re putting down.

You can take matters into your own hands, and funnel extremely targeted traffic to your website by simply creating content around specific keyword phrases that you know your potential clients use in their searches. You can do this, while gaining an edge on your competition, by using what’s known as “long tail” keywords. Long tail keywords are the latest buzz in search engine optimization strategy.

So, what the heck is a long tail keyword, anyway? It’s a keyword made up of 3 or more words, for example:

Short Tail / Main Keyword – Puppies for Sale
Long Tail Keyword 1 – 8 Week Old Bulldog Puppies for Sale
Long Tail Keyword 2 – Purebred English Bulldog Puppies for Sale

Naturally, many long tail keywords are phrases that are low in SEO competition. Try it yourself and see. Run a Google search for the word “puppies.” With over 22 million results, that’s a crowded playing field. Most savvy internet users know that they need to enter not just one, but a string of words or a phrase in order to find exactly what they’re looking for.  As a website owner, implementing focused, long tail keywords into your content will equal targeted traffic – that converts!

Using this strategy isn’t difficult; it just takes a bit of planning and forethought.  Simply target and optimize your web content around a specific long tail keyword phrase in each page title and within each paragraph of your articles. Once you have articles that rank highly in search results, your other articles will also start to show an improvement in rankings, and before you know it, your web traffic will be skyrocketing.

It’s extremely competitive to rank for short tail keywords. Remove yourself from the competition and stand apart by targeting long tail keyword traffic. When you’re ready to hire a professional SEO company to help you discover those magic long tail keywords crucial to your specific niche, contact us! Organic Search Engine Optimization Services and the All-Important Backlink

You may think your do-it-yourself approach to SEO is working just fine and you’ve got no reason to worry about outsourcing your online media marketing solutions, but have you considered your website back-end? The search engines do – in the form of backlinks. So just what exactly is a backlink? Simply put, it’s a link from another website that links back to yours. All search engines, especially Google, include backlinks in their algorithms for rankings. Basically, the higher the number of quality backlinks a website has, the more relevant it becomes in a search query, and the more traffic it’ll get. Easy, right? Maybe not. Read on to learn more about what constitutes a quality link, and how Eminent SEO can help your website get more backlinks.

A naturally-built link profile will prevent your site from fluctuating in rankings on Google and other search engines. Backlinks will also enable your site to rank for keywords that you haven’t even considered optimizing for yet! Search engines prefer a varied and wide-ranging diet of links, so natural appearing Google link building should stem from a fairly large assortment of sources. Blogs, social bookmarking sites, directories, forums, YouTube, social media sites – the entire gamut. Having a link profile which appears to be naturally-built over time by a variety of sources is the ultimate key to getting those high search engine ratings every business is after.

Another way to look at it is to imagine each link to your site as a vote of confidence of sorts – a wide variety of links reinforce your authority – not just among the search engines, but among users and potential clients as well. If your site has indexed backlinks from a large assortment of sources, collected over time, it makes you look, well, legit.

As with all things SEO, the key is consistency and patience. Unfortunately, for the busy business owner, both items may simply be in short supply. Lucky for you, you’ve got Eminent SEO to help you with the process and build quality links for you in a natural way.

Google Search Just kicked it up a notch with “Search Plus Your World”

Google search received one of its biggest updates in a decade yesterday. Essentially Google has made it pretty much mandatory for any and all individuals as well as companies to get a Google+ account to gain any search accreditation. Google+ will be a part of everything Google does on the web and mobile, and being that Google is the number one search engine; you’d be silly not to jump on this growing band wagon.

This Google+ infused approach assumes personal connections as well as relevance. Any links shared by your Google+ connections are given more accreditation and will show up in the first page of web search results with the individuals profile avatar on the left. You will also be able to see, based on keyword relevance, Google+ posts. To put in terms you can easily understand, Google indexes the Google+ posts just like every other page, but they will show up in your search if the individual/poster is connected to you via the Google+ network. Images posted to Google+ will also show up in web and image search results, again, only to searchers who are connected to the originating person who posted the photo being searched. Lastly, like Facebook, in the search bar you will be able to ‘Google’ specific people who have a Google+ network profiles and see content from people you are connected to.

Jack Menzel, Google’s web search product management director, mentioned in an interview with VentureBeat, “Everything we show you, we label that very clearly and explain why that’s showing up.”

The social search integrations, which Google is calling “search plus your world,” can be toggled on and off by using the “person” and “world” icons in the top right corner of search results, basically allowing you to view or hide your personal search results from the Google search.

Next you may notice the promoted Google+ accounts. On the right side of the results page, you will see featured profiles and pages, along with a link reading, “learn how you could appear here too.” Though these featured accounts are currently algorithmically determined, we can see these being direct competition with Facebook’s social ads, which is HUGE! Facebook has been banking some pretty amazing revenue from their geo-targeted ads based on social graph data. With Google+, Google is on its way to building a powerhouse of even more rich social graph data to pull even more direct and specific social ad marketing.

Menzel told VentureBeat, “The more information you have associated with your Google+ profile, the better it gets. For this launch, we’re just talking about web search and image search,” said Menzel, “but I wouldn’t rule out improvements to those other products.”

Google+ results are coming today to web search, and although the company can’t talk timelines for future rollouts, we fully expect to see Google+ results in Google News, Google Maps, Google Shopping and other search properties soon.

Google+ is not just a social network; it’s the wave of a personalized search. Good or bad? What do you think? Share your comments on Google+ and personalized search below…
