Good To Know in SEO: Recent Google Algorithm Update

We always like to check out the news and forum chatter updates on Search Engine Round Table for Google algorithm updates. On January 26th Barry Schwartz said that the WebmasterWorld forums were buzzing about unusual fluctuations in the SERPs. He also said that Mozcast was showing some higher than normal weather patterns – check out what they are showing for the last 30 days:

Whoa! Something is definitely going on right now…

A more recent post explains that the fluctuations were part of a major update but Google confirmed the changes were NOT related to Penguin or Panda.

So, we know there was a change (and we know it was not Penguin or Panda) but everything else at this point appears to be speculation. However, most webmasters are saying they are pretty sure this was NOT related to mobile.
