Hey There,
As we approach the end of 2023, I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting developments from the world of Google Search that can significantly influence your digital strategy for the upcoming year.
Firstly, Google’s much-anticipated ‘hidden gems’ feature is now fully rolled out. Initially introduced in a Google Perspectives blog post back in May, ‘hidden gems’ was thought to be part of the helpful content system. However, it’s now confirmed to be part of Google’s core ranking system. This update has been quietly elevating User Generated Content (UGC), particularly from crowd-sourced forums like Reddit and Quora, which presents a fantastic opportunity for businesses to strategically leverage UGC in their SEO efforts.
In addition, Google has announced the introduction of ‘Notes’ in search results – an experiment where notes are left on content, and these notes can then be seen in the search results. Along with this, you can now tap the ‘Follow’ button to follow topics, and soon, sites as well. This means that the next time you search for that topic, you’ll see new information from across the web right at the top of your search results!
Google has also started showing social information like follower counts in search results, offering insights into the popularity and credibility of content creators. This combined with the introduction of structured markup for courses, which makes finding educational content easier, are exciting developments that can greatly enhance user experience and engagement.
As we look towards 2024, I’m excited about the opportunities these updates present. They underline the importance of staying adaptable and innovative in an ever-evolving digital landscape. At Eminent SEO, we’re committed to keeping you informed about the latest trends and changes, helping you stay ahead of the curve.
Here’s to embracing change and seizing new opportunities in 2024!
Best Regards,
Jenny Weatherall
